Welcome Back To the GazetteAfter a long leave (nearly 16 months), we're back. As you may have heard by now, Jim Wilson: the originator of The Gazette and founder of Jimworld, passed away in early May, 2003, following an 18 month battle with heart disease. Usually, this section is reserved for me to be me. Most of you don't know me yet, but that's fine. You will pretty soon, and I'm here to tell ya, you're gonna luv me to death! ;) I plan to use this space in the Gazette to spout off, vent, or tell a joke -- whatever I'm in the mood for at 2am on a Sunday night...
This week, however, being the first Gazette that's been sent in over a year, and the first one sent since Jim Wilson's passing early in May, I'm not going to ramble. I'm going to speak from the heart about a man who changed the Internet. Jim Wilson was one of the most special people I've ever come into contact with. He was a visionary and a pioneer. I can't really explain it well enough in such a short article, or even on an entire Web site. I was lucky enough to have talked with him for hours on the phone over the course of 5+ years. Every time we talked, I'd hang up and ask myself "Where the Hell did he come up with that one?" He thought of things that would blow your mind, and then 2 days later have them up online someplace. He had a way with words that was unparalleled, and an unbelievable knack for business. He was the guy who was always in the right place at the right time. Not because he would anticipate where to be, he'd just be somewhere, and greatness would find HIM, and it would move forward with him from there. What an unbelievable guy, and what an unbelievable loss to all of us -- and most importantly, his family. This "Scumbag of the Week" article is irresponsible. I had not trouble at all in receiving the following response from SpamArrest:

We warn our customers from sending bulk emails about the fact that their contacts might misunderstand their bulk emails as spam and will turn against them and Spam Arrest. A company following only such healthy practices can never do such a thing like spamming. What we value the most is our customer's trust and we will make all efforts to retain that in the best way possible. We never admit your personal information to any third party under whatsoever circumstances. You will find a whole lot of misleading things like this in Internet, James. We have friends and foes like anyone else in this planet.

In the 3 years that I have used SpamArrest, I personally have never received one complaint from anyone that has been 'spammed' from any theoretical 'spam list' that SpamArrest may have created. I think that their statement above makes it clear that they would not do this.
