Name of Site/Business: GoAwayTravel.com
Site's Main Purpose: Ecommerce/Sales
Please Review the following:
Search engine marketing. Can the pages be reasonably well indexed by search engines?
Additional Comments/Notes
I am considering hiring a SEO, but I want to know if I am doing well enough on my own. Is there anything major that I am missing? Are there other factors that are limiting my ranking possiblities (links into my site, etc.)
URL is in my profile.
Thanks

Well if you asked me, it seems like you are doing a good job by your own. I just typed site:<your company url here> in Google and it seems that google at least spiders your whole site. Maybe you should think again before hiring.

I don't think you are doing well when the second listing in google for your domain name is this forum.
I will try to get back later to do more reviewing.

Our page rank went down from 4 to 3 and it seems like our search rankings went down afterward. Am I doing anything wrong? Or, what can I do differently?
Thanks,
Kristy

Hi Kristy,
Every day, more and more pages are added to the Web. There is a fixed amount of PageRank. As more pages are added, that fixed amount of PR has to be divided amongst more pages so the average PR of the average page, declines each and every day. this is particularly so with competitive areas of the Internet such as travel. You have to continually improve your site (as would appeal to search engine algorithms) and continually add more pages. to do nothing means you are continually going backwards.
Be that as it may, Google recently made a siginificant changeto the way it calculates PageRank and many sites went down. My own site lost PR but search traffic doubled.
What all this means is that more and more measures are being used to determine search engine rankings.
I had a quick look at your home page and can see a couple of issues:
1. you need to eliminate the non www domain through a mod_rewrite instruction. Because your site can be found at http://www.yourdomain and http://yourdomain people who link to your site will link to one or the other. Google regards them as separate domains so you are having the PR that flows to your site, split between two domains.
2. your internal links to your home page link to /index.html. They should link to / . People linking to your www domain will nearly all link to http:// www dot yourdomain dot com not, http:// www dot yourdomain dot com/index.html. So you are splitting your valuable PR even further.
you need to have all links to your "home" page, whether from other sites or links within your own site, link to:
http:// www dot yourdomain dot com

sorry, but this is not optimized at all.
you also have navigation issues, like you should have a link to your home page on every page,
as for the comment about beingh founf for your URL, you should always be found for your domain name, even without any optimization
you need to work on your titles and metas
you need to work on your content
you need the 301 redirect
you need a robots.txt
