    Hi,

i have written a little program that some of you may find useful. It enables you to do your own keywords research by using the idea of keywords "supply" and "demand", and it works out the keywords KEI (a term invented by Sumantra Roy).

The "supply" numbers are obtained from Google, while the "demand" numbers come from Overture (including the list of keywords suggested by Google).

If you are interested in checking it out, you will find all the information you need at http://www.cattle-ramp-seo.com/keywords-analysis.htm

The program is called Keywords Analysis and it is totally FREE smile

Free as in beer! Nice tool. How do I intepret the numbers? Am I looking for low-demand-high-supply key phrases?

Where can I find good information on KEI?

On your next build, can you make it so the window can be resized?

    Thank you!

basically, the KEI is worked in such a way as to reflect the demand versus the supply, the formula is demandxdemand/supply

the way it is usually interpreted is the higher the KEI, the better the keyword

i have a reservation with that interpretation as a high KEI can also mean competing with possibly thousands or millions of other web sites

i usually look at the KEI number together with the supply numbers against the demand and then decide on my keywords

i think that i would have a better chance of competing against hundreds of web sites for a lower KEI than against thousands (and sometimes millions) of web sites for a higher keyword KEI

of course, it's up to you smile

the following link explains KEI in detail [link]

i will think about resizing the window although i see no point to it except that the keyword column could perhaps be benefit from being wider - i don't see any point in the numbers columns being wider - IMHO

Sometimes I get an error saying that my keywords return no results. What is that all about. I tried it with 'web site design' and it keeps saying no results. Any advice?

    hi japautoparts,

to understand the "no results", you need to understand how Keywords Analysis (KA) works: KA will get the results for any keyword you type in from the Overture web site and if Overture reports that there are no results for a keyword you are investigating, then KA will transfer that message to you.

There is another case when KA will report a "no results". And that is if you are not connected to the Internet when using it, for reasons similar to above.

If you find that "web site design" produces no results, you will then need to try another less restrictive keyword or start with something like "web site" to see if there are alternatives to "web site design" that folks type in search engines

i just tried "web site" and found that "web site design" is one of the suggestions but like you i cannot get any results for "web site design" and i am quite puzzled by this!!!

i will have to investigate this anomaly

    hi japautoparts,

found the reason for why "web site design" was producing no result - i had used the wrong command in one section of the code

i have now fixed it and will let you know through this post when it is released as i need to check the other changes i have made to it first

thanks for letting me know about the problem

    serge
