The best way to get a lot of traffic quickly is to buy it.

SEO is much more about a steady growth over a period; it doesn't do miracles very well at all. smile

agreed...

adwords, paid links on other sites etc.. only way to get quick visitors without going down the tweaking SEO route.

... but do remember that the paidlinks method may be effective so long as you keep paying - but it may seriously damage the long term flow of 'free' visitors, as Google may downgrade your pages, or take other equally damaging actions against you. Google deprecates paidlinks, and has made this 'a bit of an issue' of late, though so far it appears that only a few industrial link sellers have been affected.

Fastest and most effective method (if done properly) is hands down - Google AdWords.

You can register and set up an account in less than 15 minutes.

Use the keyword suggestion tool to build a pretty decent keyword list in about another 15 minutes.

Write up 2 or 3 AdWords text ads in about 15 minutes.

If you have a strong budget you can see tons of traffic - all starting in about 45 minutes.

You can accomplish pretty much the same account setup timeframes at Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN - but the traffic is neither as good or as plentiful.

PPC isnt what i'd call the 'right' choice.. its one of the choices.

The right choice is to optimise your site from the ground up, and write good informative pages. PPC is a good way to build initial traffic, but you may find it less important as you progress with the site.

"The right choice is to optimise your site from the ground up, and write good informative pages." - Good choice but the results are not quick.

You can get quick traffic from social networking sites but it won't last long unless you have a strong reputation and offer high quality content.

As mentioned above, ppc works but can be expensive.

Hi,

Do you think the maintainance can be reduced once your site has reached your goal?

There's always something to be done, especially making sure that content is still true and accurate, as well as cleaning up non-working links, and tweaking titles and descriptions. You should also be adding to and updating content from time to time.

None of this need take up a lot of time, perhaps just a couple of hours every few weeks.
