I mean nothing personal by this, nor is this absolutely directed at anyone in particular, but here goes...
Why do folks take on clients, then turn to professionals for free advice on how to make things work?
I mean, I see it all the time:
A new user signs up, asks how to rank well for such and such, or how should the meta tags look because their client wants it, etc., etc.
Honestly, if you are asking the baseline questions here, should you be taking clients at all? I mean, it's like getting paid to fix a car, yet you don't know what a socket wrench is...
This is an increasingly popular thing I'm seeing these days.
Even more important than all of this, the experience possessed by many professionals here allows them to quickly learn whether a client is worth working with. Most clients (generally speaking) are hard on the head and not worth the money in the end. Sometimes things can even get legal on you - not pretty.
I'll end this by making a plea that folks new to all this think long and hard before thinking these free resources will help you turn a profit.
If you are still on the learning curve, practice on your own sites. It's simply unethical to take money from a client while you're using their site to learn the basics of search marketing.
I believe the pie is big enough for lots of folks to get a slice, but really, there's learning and there's practicing. Don't mess with your future in this industry by learning on th backs of others.
Here's what I'm going to propose:
Since I freely help folks here, and some of those folks then use this advice to do work for clients they're charging. If you're turning some profit as a result of my advice, I'll submit a bill for my time to you. I'm not cheap, but then again, good help rarely is...

Sportsguy, there have always been cowboys in this industry and probably always will. People have their own ethics and that isn't going to change anytime soon.
The old principle of karma and reaping what you sow is still alive and well. One of the keys of these forums is nothing is for free - Members are asked to contribute back by assisting others, doing site reviews etc.
On the other hand - over the years we have seen a great many folks come in here because they have been thrown the hat of SEO within their company. Or their company website has been messed around with and needs to be corrected. These people shouldn't feel badly when asking for assistance.
