I am interested in converting a site towards ppc comparison shopping,where retailers can upload thier products to my site and be charged on a ppc basis.What kind of price tag am I looking at if I would hire a professional to build it?

I can't answer that question; however, I do have a suggestion. That's a pretty crowded field with many already established sites. You will want to offer a unique benefit or target a specific niche audience.
