Hi all,
We have used a combination of original content, keyword optimization and related links. Yahoo took us to the 4th page, then back to the 7th. Does somebody know why and what should be done to target the top?
Thank you.

Generally sites move around normally. This can happen a few times a week, and in some cases, a few times a day.
Heck, I've run positioning reports, checked the report, done the search and seen a 3 place change.
There's a lot to process and as the info is available, the rankings are updated.
Granted, 4th PAGE to 7th PAGE seems a bit much, but you didn't mention the timeframe over when this swing occurred.
As for targeting the top - no secrets there:
1 - solid, unique content
2 - cover the basics of SEO - can be found by reading through this place like so many others have - there are no shortcuts
3 - manually build quality inbound links
4 - be patient

Hi SportsGuy,
Thank you for answering. The swing occured in a matter of day/s. We were at the 9th page: added original content (a practice we try to do with regularity)and increased keyword density on the front page. Then ...4th...7th
Thanks again.
