    Search Engine Marketting/Optimization books...

I've been working as an SEO for some time,
I think that most of the reading material I find on the net is already known to me.

Sure there are changes and innovations that you need to read and get updated,
but I was thinking to myself, maybe there are some books that offers abit more
than what regular articles or forums have to offer.

Can you recommand any Books i should buy that can get my SEO work better?
Maybe books that will get me to manage my work better,
Books that will show me new perspective that Im not familiar with,
All sorts of ways to basically work better, smarter and more efficiant.
Planning your website to work with SEO from beginning,
planning your optimization activity, how to manage it, setting up your goals,
and so much more information which I'm sure there is some good and reliable
    material about.

I would like to hear what you have to say.
    Thank you.

No. This was the right place.

I don't think anyone here can recommend any particular book.

From what I have seen, they are very incomplete, and sadly out of date by the time they eventually get to the shop...

SEO book by Aaron Wall - excellent book - and you get updates.

I also liked the book by Mike Grehan, but at this point in time its worth waiting for the new edition out soon...

Prestige - you might want to try looking into a subcription here:

    http://www.searchenginenews.com/se-news/

The monthly "book" is a downloadable pdf - I simply send it to my local OfficeMax and have them print & coil it for $14.

The nice thing with this "publication" is that you buy the monthly subscription, then any changes announced by the engines, or found to be true by the SEO indutry, are included in the next copy. For the most part it's basic stuff, but they take the time to explain everything - white hat & black hat. I now know what NOT to do in clear and simple terms and can better understand what competitors are actually doing, because I know the tricks myself.

Sure, you may know all the tricks, but...

Anyway, not sure of any actual texts, as they are, as mentioned, woefully outdated even when they first come out.

I think you can find the best information in the forums, since it would be the most up to date.

No doubt the forums have the best and most updated search engine related information.

but there is nothign like a good book (even if its not hardcover) to let you see if there is somethign you have forgot about, or not well aware of.

Getting you to think about some more tactics and strategies
and alot of other reasons which I Doubt needs to be explained.

    Thanks for the answers guys.

I recently purchased an ebook from ((url removed)) it had really good SEO and SEM content. He recently created a blog. Not much content yet, but I recommend this book.

prestige, in almost all cases I'd agree with liking a book plus forums, but in seo, it just changes too fast, and the people who put out these 'books', online or whatever, I don't know, first knowledge is deeply hidden and rarely discussed, then it makes it into the lower levels, that's the guys you have to pay a LOT to work on your sites, then people who follow this stuff more become aware of it, then it hits publication electronically, then it hits more of the mainstream forums, then it hits the newbee consciousness, then google smashes it.

So I stick to forums, and especially stickies with the better forum guys. One sticky from one smart guy is worth more than anything else you'll read in a month from my experience.

Although I'd agree with sportguy, read those books so you can know what not to do, since that knowledge will be exploited heavily enough to begin failing within 6-12 months. What not to do is also the main thing I learn from forums.
