I want to try some 2nd or 3rd tier search engines like 7search, Miva, Search123, ABCSearch etc etc.
Which one should I try first?

Just be very careful with '2nd tier'.
Many have no protection against clickfraud (indeed, some do it themselves), many have poor statistics so it's hard to tell when you are being ripped off, or simply not being well served.
Few deliver the ludicrous rewards they promise.
Some are great.
NEVER believe the self promotion - always go by word of mouth or some independent sources (search for the name, and see what has been said about them).
Never go by word of mouth from a new member (sorry folks!); while they may be as honest as the day is long, they may equally be joining just to promote their service (or one they are affiliated with). Neither you nor I can know.
I know this is hard on new members, who are perfectly entitled to express a view ... but you must protect yourself. And when income is at stake, you cannot take risks.

Thanks Quadrille.
I was happy with Search123 till end 2004. After this they started sending low quality traffic, but thankfully after a few explanations I got partial refund.
I did try these too:
GoClick, Enhance, Kanoodle, FindWhat, and one I even forgot the name (it starts with B).
Anyways they ALL sent me garbage traffic. My hard earned hundreds of dollars went down the drain.
Since all this was about few years back I thought maybe they have improved so let me do a research and see what people have to say.
But feels bad to listen that they haven’t improved at all.
So anyone reading this thread - just concentrate on
Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN AdCenter.

I have worked with Enhance and ABCsearch in the past. Traffic quality is a issue as stated in earlier post. I find that ABC has a tighter grasp of their traffic than Enhance. When dealing with all 2nd tiers the quality is really up to you and how much time you spend toiling over logs files and filtering out the bad sites.

Roar.com and Miva.com (formally FindWhat.com) still enjoy some afterglow of their long-ago well earned reputations. (In the deep dark history of Internet Time (circa 1998) FindWhat.com was a very strong second place competitor to GoTo.com, now part of Y!. Roar.com has a similar story, but as I recall they are based in Aussi Land. So they may skew to ROW traffic?)
I've tried Search123.com more recently; in our experience, their traffic was not at all acceptable and customer service was non-existent.
However, the current traffic simply has to be tested for your category/topic. The traffic might be junk, but it may be acceptable. Test it with a little bit of money and a healthy dose of skepticism.
