Hi,all
I am currently doing an Banner ads testing project and quite new to this field. I am interested to know wether web user are more likely to click on a flash baner rather than a still banner.
I personally regard banner advertisements especially flash banner as highly annoying because they distract from a web page's actual content or waste bandwidth.
Of course, the purpose of the banner ad is to attract attention. Without attracting attention, which makes it annoying, it would provide no revenue for the advertiser or for the content provider.
What do you think of banner ads?

The best thing to do with any strategy is to test it. Market research used to show that text ads outperformed banners because many people tune them out. I occasionally see posts from someone who had good success with banners.
My personal opinion is that advertising used in moderation and well targeted to an interested market will work best. Online advertisers could learn from the experiences of offline direct marketers including those who with mail-order catalog businesses.
If I wanted to know the answer to that question I would run an equal number of each controlling for as many variables as possible. Ideally you could alternate them on the same position on the same site using a banner rotation script.
You might also check into using Google's Website Optimizer beta program that allows you to test and measure results generated by multiple versions of the same page.
