Anybody out there have any idea why I'm getting a bunch of OVerture-tagged referrals lately from "search.shopping.yahoo.com"??? I've tried to replicate this myself by doing searches there but can't find any Overture listings.

if you go to shopping.yahoo.com - you will see that Yahoo now lists the top 3 overture results above the results from the Yahoo Stores. This is a recent thing - and you should be looking at it as a plus - shopping.yahoo.com is a shopping destination - and those results used to be reserved for Yahoo Stores only - but as we continue to see: it's all about the money sad (the reason for the long face is: i run a yahoo store, and i used to get some good traffic from them.

Yeah, that is good for overture customers and bad for yahoo store owners.

whynot??? -- do you have an example of a search I could do in shooping.yahoo.com that would give me some OV results? I haven't been able to replicate these results there, even using the exact same queries that my stats show me delivered the traffic. TIA

FlimFlam - shopping.yahoo.com is no longer showing overture's results. I would venture to say that Yahoo was testing it out. we'll see what happens...

hmmm...apparently Yahoo is testing it again, as a bunch more of these referrals showed up in my logs yesterday -- but AGAIN, I'm not able to see them for myself! They must be moving them in and out of the results while they're testing them.

Anyway, if the referrals I've seen are any indication, this won't be the best converting traffic I've seen...wait, maybe the traffic is all from Yahoo's internal testing!? I might've just answered my own question! <light bulb appears over noggin, bells ring, off to check the IP's....>

FlimFlam - So it seems that the test was successful because the listings are back up on shopping.yahoo.com . To see an example go to: http://search.shopping.yahoo.com/search/all/__yltc=s:14489115,d:14489115,w:search?p=lawn+furniture&did=

the top 3 results are pulled from over

Great for Over advertisers smile
Horrible for yahoo stores sad

Man, I must be slow on the draw, but I can find no OVer results there! I wonder if they are geographically targetting this test market..?

If you would all read the following:

Yahoo is acquiring Overture and this could just be them "testing the waters", so to speak. So many things like this are now making sense.
