I've been involved with the creation of a search engine for webcomics text. I would like to make a meta-search engine that returned results from this engine and from other comics-related search bars. I know most of the creators of said search bars and they are willing to co-operate. But my own programming skills are limited, and my programming partner is finding his time and resources consumed elsewhere.
How difficult is it to design meta-search for minor, cooperative engines? Is there a technique that can be explained.
Any response has my gratitude. In exchange, if you have any questions for me about the design of an engine that uses "distributed transcriptions," post them here and I'll answer them as best I can.

It's really just a matter of writing the code, there's no process to go through other than that
In response to a query on your engine your server would:
1) Query each of the external engines.
2) Parse the response from each engine.
3) Remove duplicates while mixing responses (most likely you'd want to sort using a weighting system).
4) Give the formatted data back to your current system for display.
