I'm sick of my host. He designed a shopping cart 'system' which, the short of it, requires them to update all the pages manually after I make changes. i.e., if I add a new product, I then have to add the link to the shopping cart.

Obviously this is more work than they expected, because I change products and tweak things quite a bit. Now it's not getting done in a timely manner and my site is a disaster.

When you return to shop after adding an item to the cart, it rolls you back to the last version of the site, so any changes you made after that don't show up at all. The result is outdated products and content.

What tools do I need to add shopping cart functions smoothly to my static site.?

"add shopping cart functions"

It depends on what functions you want. Miva Merchant, will do what you have now but so will the Mals Ecommerce cart (free).

Miva will, of course, give you considerable other functionality. Probably the Mals cart would suit your needs.

Thanks folks,
Another struggle, you can't get hardly anyone on the phone about hosting services, even though they have 1-800 #'s, they never answer, and most just automatically go into a mailbox.

I need a host who will answer the phone when I call. If anyone knows a host who provides true customer service, please pm me.

www.oscommerce.com is a free solution.

Also, there is a pretty good 'fork' based on this code (also free) at www.zencart.com
