I've been doing web devlopement/SEO for over 3 years know and have taught myself a lot about marketing, html, CGI/Perl...etc. I know how to build websites and know how to market them - in fact, I do this for an internet based company now.
However, I want to start selling my own products and move away from my company. I've been looking online for dropshippers and whatnot - not interested in affiliate marketing.
Does anyone here know of any places to go online to find dropshippers - it's hard to filter through all those spam sites? How should I go about finding products to sell?
It's becoming very frustrating to me to know what to do web-wise and just not have anything to offer in terms of quality products.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried digital software? As you know there are always many new software products developed all the time and most of them are great for webmasters. You not only can use them for your own use but most have resell rights. You could repackage them into lots and use your own new package to help sell them.
Or even if you do start selling other products from a dropshipper such as leather jackets, etc. You could also offer a free digital product with each order.Give people something for free and they love you lol.
It's always nice to have many choices. Keep shopping around and searching for dropshippers but 80% of them don't offer much savings or profit to you.
Go for the actual manufacturer of something. You should be able to make more money that way.

I don't know about dropshippers, Joe, but do you fancy writing your own ebook abour seo or other topics that you are competent in? You could sell through Clickbank.
Regards,
Martin.

Just a thought, but alot of the ebay 'businesses' are built on exactly this principle. I would spend some time browsing through the listings - what works? What doesn't? why? At least then you'll know some of the products to avoid, although I can't help much with what will work. Standard practice though is to avoid large items & those that are difficult to ship. Difficult items (like fragile ones) are going to cost you much more in terms of packaging and insurance.

askjoe.
Just curious why you said "no affiliate marketing." Have you had a bad experience or possibly think of it as only spammers?
We manage top affiliate programs like National Geographic Store, City Search, 21st Century Auto and other top brands from almost every market niche. Some of our affiliates are making over $10K a month.
They don't have to take orders or worry about customer support. Take a look at the caliber of programs on my site and some of the money people are making. If you see anything that sounds like it may be a good fit for your interests, let me know. I'd like to help change your impression of the industry, if possible. You are good at marketing and SEO and those are the main ingredients to success.

Can anyone assist?

Keep in mind dropshipping a product online usually means that there's like a gazillion other peps doing the same thing.
Yes, perhaps their sites aren't as optimized as what you can do, but there's just too much market saturation for mass produced products readily available for that type of business.
You need true inspiration, Joe. Take a vacation, that's how I came up with my idea. And now I burn $100 bills just for fun! jk
