Im thinking about re-designing some ecommerce sites that other people have made. I dont know much about back end coding etc but and how much work would be envoloved in applying a new template to the shop as there must be many different packages that are used to build them. I am thinking that in most cases it would be neccessary to get the orginal webmaster to implement the design ? Any feedback appreciated.

Doing a site makeover is only a cosmetic change that any webmaster can make. In fact that's the idea to get some NEW creativity in the site layout... it's really only a matter of changing the layout as the links have already been set up....however you need to have knowledge in the area that the site has been created in i.e. you need to know some php coding if it has been a php/mysql site as opposed to a pure html site or if it was designed in cold fusion to know how .cfm p[ages differ from .htm pages etc.,

Would it be possible to open up the existing site in Dreamweaver and see from there where the existing images etc are and replace them ? Am i right in thinking that most emcommerce sites have 2-3 templates that are applyied automaticly to every page ? So i wouldnt have to edit every page ?
