I started a small computer selling business. I design and build the systems on my website, and also offer custom systems. I think my products are wonderful, as I am able to compete very well in prices and specs with big name companies, however, I am so very lost in this new world of ecommerce and running a business that I am not sure how I should promote my new website. I just bought (an obvious waste of money,) a 10,000 garunteed unique visitors, I thought that at least 1 would stay and take a look at my website....well, not 1 has stayed past 6 seconds I have found other advertising oppurtunities that are unfortuantly way out of my budject a this time, I am funding this business with a part time job. I guess I am here to ask for any advice/websites/advertising oppurtunties that make the most out of my buck. Thanks alot for your time. -Brian Merkel

This can definitely be done. It takes some sweat equity and lots of research. Start here at SEF and read then modify your site.

Brian,
I take a look at your site. The reason why not 1 vistor stay more than 6 seconds is that there really is not much you offer to make anybody stay for more than 6 seconds.
1) Home page: nothing there, no much to read, not much inform other than someone wearing a headphone and keep shaking her head. Loading time is long too.
2) Product page: nothing there either. You never state a reason why anybody should buy from you. Price, quality, serice...what? You didnot off any choice! Yeah Speakers, Accessories... but what, which, how much? There is no decision to make.
3) Services page: nothing there either. YOu cannot be a jack of all trade know it all. What can I ask you? What is your specialty? How much? Serial number?
4) Worst of all, if I decide to buy something from you, what am I suppose to do? There is no instruction for how to place an order or price. Am I suppose to write you and ask you to see if you really have it? Dell.com is just a few key stroke away!
You got to have something solid to offer the customers with a specification, a price....something that one would reach for the credit card.
Ask yourself, if your come to your site, how would you buy from your site. Would you buy from your site?
You are loooong looooong way from making your frist dollar from your web site.

Rambling as I look..
At the bottom are 2 squares that I expect to link to more info.. the first "welcome" doesn't and the 2nd "ups" links to a page where I can download your desktop images.. not good as I'm expecting more info on your shipping and UPS.
"services" is just a form for me to fill it telling you I need support or what I want to purchase.. It should instead tell/show me what you offer. What you have now is more of a contact page than a services page. What if I don't know what I want, or am unsure of what I want? What if I want something that you don't have? I can't figure that out looking at your site and there is slim chance I'm going to email you when I can just go elsewhere.
"products" - remove the *test* off there, make it seem like this isn't a real page. Use a hidden area for testing not your live site.
"computers" upon clicking I am show an order page with a pix of a box (is this the one I get if I order?), "merkel gaming" and the statement "The computer designed with gamers in mind." along with a *buy it* link and *by check* link.. me, being the genius that I am, figured out that I would get specs by clicking on the pic of the box.. don't expect everyone to be as quick.. provide the basics right there and a link for *more info* don't make them work for it.. same for all the other products
your contact page should provide more than a form.. you should place your full company name, address and phone along with email info before the form. Way more professional.
I don't see anything along the lines of a FAQ (how are orders handled, processed, time frames, who and how to contact should I have a problem with the order. What is your return policy? Guarantee? Payment policy - you should say something about Paypal, how it works and how people can verify who and what you are.
