Rule of thumb : If you sell over 1k a month get a real merchant account with a gateway such as PayMeNow, Authorize.net, etc.
Under 1K, use PayPal or 2checkout. Though, both of these companies have sites dedicated to how bad they are. However, I've used both and never had problems.
