Hello Everyone,
Just came across this forum while looking for tips on how to promote my forum and sites. Hope I'll be able to learn more from everyone here.

You will be able to learn much here.
Unfortunately, there isn't a list of current good /bad practice techniques but you will be able to ask any question you like and get an informed response.

These forums have been around for quite some time; there is a huge wealth of information just waiting for you to read. Don't be shy - read read read!
As well, don't be shy to ask questions. Go ahead, ask 'newbie questions'. Don't worry that your concerns may to too elementary for the (genuinely) brilliant folks who hang out here. We're here to help. And you may end up teaching the brilliant folks something new, too.
