Hi, I am working on my companies website and there is one thing that is a bit of an annoyance. When you type www.mycompanysite.com you get to the page no problem, however when you only type mycompanysite.com without the www you get a page can not be displayed error.
I have a hunch it is because the secondary DNS is not set up properly but I am not certain.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Leave it as it is, it is quite safe. Moset sites are accessed via a www prefix anyway.
Or, set it up so that non-www does also access the content, but does so via a 301 redirect from non-www to www. Failure to include the redirect will stuff up your results in Google due to the way they treat "duplicate content".

But how do I set it up so that it will go to the non-www address?
Thanks!

You want to set it up so that nonwww goes to www. via a 301 redirect - search for 301 redirect & your server type. Try this...

I assume that you don't want to redirect www to non-www. That would not help you at all. I assume that you just want to make non-www accessible.
You'll need to add an entry in the main config file, I suspect. I believe the entry is under the ServerAlias section somewhere.
Your DNS settings might also need to be altered if that doesn't fix it.
You will need to set up a 301 redirect to resolve to just one URL, otherwise you will be serving duplicate content - and that will cause you a lot of problems.

I might mention this is possibly something that your hosting company should do for you, if you do not have access.
