Hi
My company has a big library of PDF's. Some other web sites take copies of them from our site and post them on their own sites.
We don't mind this, but my question is whether it would be worth us adding a link to our site in all our PDF's, so that we could benefit from the inbound links when other sites use them.
It's not a small job for us to do this with our entire library, so before doing it I wondered if the effect of having a lot of inbound links from PDF's would be comparable to having links from web pages.
Has anyone seen any research on this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Nick

interesting.. common sense says yes, as google parses PDF's and all contents within, treating them as a standard document. If it was me i'd certainly try it.

I would agree, but havent done research on this. I would just assume it would be a positive thing to do, as long as the content of the pdf was unique. I often come across pdfs in google rankings, particularly for various research articles, so I think google is good at picking up on this.

one more thing to think of, in my experience pdf's are downloaded copies of the content already on the website. make sure the pdf doesn't cause any duplication issues.
