I only now just happened upon the fact that Google Analytics is using a new tracking code (and made the change in Dec 2007). We are a GA customer and I never receieved any notification about this change. I find this very odd. Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks.

The 'old code' still works, and some actually prefer it.

Full details at GA.

i use the new code.

There are some neat customisations that you can do with it, some of them are, err, undocumented.

The setup is more configurable, and is more 'future proof' - but the existing code works now and there's no date set for its demise (as far as I know).

I'd interested to hear G1's undocumented Xtras!

Sure, over a pint, sometime. I mentioned one at an earlier SEF mini-meet.
