I have been performing SEO on my site for almost a year now and have been pretty successful thus far. I have a very good amount of external links but have been stuck at a 5/10 for some time now. I have come to believe that maybe this is because i have an excess number of internal pages. I currently have between 5-10,000 pages that are all full of good content. Is it fair to believe that this amount of pages is what is holding me up? Is my PR spreading over too many pages to get me to the next level yet?
If this is the case would it be better to have excess pages so when you do finally reach the 6/10 it spreads over every page and gives me a solid number of internal links. Or would it be better to have less pages and recieve the higher PR quicker. Any information or opinions on this matter would be greatfully appreciated. Thank you.

Unless you have a lot of duplicate internal pages or these pages are somehow spammy, then it shouldn't hurt you at all. Besides, the gap between PR5 and PR6 is much larger than PR4 to PR5. The difference is kind of like going from a 4-figure income to a 5-figure income and going from a 5-figure income to a 6-figure income.

Gotcha, Just wanted to make sure. Yeah, the pages are not spammy and are not duplicates, just great content. Thanks for your reply.

Actually, going from PR4 to PR5 to PR6 is more like going from a 4-figure income to a 6-figure income to a 10-figure income.
