Is it a good idea to add informational content (like articles written by other authors)specific to my industry and add them as a page on my website ? Would this qualify for quality/relevant content and give some boost to my site. I am planning on adding good quality articles with no links in them. Thanks.

Adding informational content in your site is always good. If your content is informative then it helps in getting more backlinks. Also if visitors like your site then they may become loyal towards your site.
