Just a bit of general research really...

Obviously from a SEO point of view getting websites to link to your site is good for promotion of your site and goes a long way towards getting your site ranked higher in the search engines.

How oftern though do you submit to web directories and how many do you submit to? Do you try and submit to a load once a month, once a year, or do you submit your site whenever you come across a directory that will accept you? How much time do you spend submitting?

Hampstead, that's quite a dramatic statement, why do you say link building is a waste of time?

The following is from the Google website:

    >>In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages.

    [link]

    >>Have other relevant sites link to yours.
    >>Submit your site to relevant directories such as the Open Directory Project and Yahoo!, as well as to other industry-specific expert sites.

    [link]

Or are you refering to reciprocal linking?
