I used to use mycomputer superstat counters that gave me all the information on every stat on my site. The have now started charging and I cannot afford it. Can someone tell me where to get free good web counters that shows at least what SE is sending me traffic. Thanks

Hey lhp,OK 1. You are not looking for a counter, your are looking for something that reads your logs files and analyses them 2. The keyword u did not mention but implied is "free". I am not aware of any great log file analyzers which are also free. I personally use WebTrends to track site statistics and have found it to be extremely accurate and highly cutumizable. I suggest you try using www.register-it.com they have a "counter" which lets you track what SE is sending u traffic. I also suggest using the clear one, since it is my personal belief that counters are tacky, inaccurate and unprofessional. I've also heard of stats4all.com but I've never used it. I hope this helps some... and if not others will probably know more about finding a service that will fit your needs

Strange to see this thread revived; I'm guessing that some spam came and left before I got here.
But it is worth pointing out that the days of 'web counters' are long gone; they give little information (and often inaccurately), they look unsightly, and Google Webmaster Tools (or your own stats) do a much better job.
Perhaps more seriously, many 'web counters' actually come loaded with software, which at best will bring you unlimited pop-ups for life, and at worst will damage your site - if not your computer.
Don't touch them with a barge pole!

*sigh* I wish people would read.
While we're mentioning useful stats, don't forget Google Analytics
