Hi guys,
I am making a cover design with a requirement of
8 1/2" x 11" size for hardcopy production.
I have done the design. My problem is when I set
the image size to this size, it only shows almost 10%
of the whole image on my 17" monitor as I set the view
to zoom 100%.
I'm using photoshop 7
I am thinking this is more than the actual size.
Is this correct?
Is the zoom value (magnifying glass) shows the actual
size?

What resolution is your image - in pixels to the inch?
For print it needs to be around 300 ppi - on the web it needs to be 72 ppi.
Photoshop percentages are based on 72 ppi (screen resolution) so if you have an image that is 8.5" x 11" at 300 ppi it will appear to be 35" x 45" - hope this makes sense, it's a hard thing to explain

Use your navigator ( in photoshop ) to view it on your screen.. a print quality production will be only a corner of your screen if you are viewing it at actual size. Check your image size it should be 8 1/2" x 11" with dpi of at leat 300... Print it out on your own printer to make sure it looks good.
The navigator tool in photoshop will enable you to easily enlarge & zoom in on your work and view different bits up close as needed the piece you are working on...to get it all on the screen you need to reduce it with the slide bar to the left until it is comfortable to view on screen.

I have made changes on my image size settings.
Here they are:
Here's the image size of my design.
Pixel dimension
width 2250 pixels
height 3350 pixels
Document size
8.5 inches
11 inches
300 pixels/inch
I right click and choose "Fit on
screen" and the zoom percentage value now is
19.1%, looking on my 17" monitor.
Printing settings
scale 100%
height 11 inches
width 8.5 inches
It printes out without problem.
Now the file size is 26MB. How should I
deliver this big file to him?
What should be the correct format for him
to send this image file to printing company?
I have really idea.

Generally a tiff (.tif) format is best (no compression) with the picture converted to cmyk if it is currently rgb.
burn it to cd
