If any of you use GIMP like me, you will find this plugin to be a complete godsend.

Windows Gimp Deweirdifyer

A rubbishy little plugin for Windows Gimp that gets rid of some of the weirdnesses and annoyances in the Windows version of Gimp. Basically it's a background window that sits under gimp. It removes the other ten million gimp windows from the task bar and the alt-tab menu and takes control of them itself. So you can just alt tab off gimp and then alt tab back and all your windows appear as they were before. When you're alt-tabbing, there aren't a million different gimp icons to go through before getting to a different application. There's only one icon on the taskbar, no more taskbar clutter and clicking that icon brings up *all* the gimp windows, not just one window. Oh and there's a windows menu on the background window to select windows if you lose any. Basically it makes it into a usable application, it's a bit mac-like still with all the windows, but in a similar way to on the mac, the separate windows behave like one application and don't clutter up your taskbar. Also if you maximize the background window, you get rid of the irritating thing where you miss click on a tool and open up another application. Previously I'd had to minimize all other applications when using gimp, that was getting to be a right lot of hassle.

crash ?????!!!!!?????!!!!! man oh man, I thought you were in the loop!

The Gimp

It is GNU Image Manipulation Program -- a free program that is similar to Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. I think it is absolutely awesome, and if they keep making advances like they have been I will be using it as a total Photoshop substitute. I use it most of the time now, it is great for basic image editing and graphics stuff, for being free it is fantastic.

Oh cool! Gonna have to check that out smile

Currently I use Fireworks and Photoshop but I love playing with the freebies.. I've been messing with Pixia (another free editor) most recently.

Hmm.. me thinks we should get a listing of these free graphics programs going - there are alot of folks who can't afford or don't need something like Photoshop or Fireworks which this would be useful for.
