If that site is the one in your profile, I'd get some content and worry about the logo a little further down the road.
You can make simple stuff with photoshop 7.0 or something like that, if you have the know-how (unlike me). Paying someone could be an option...one I'm considering too.

Rezac, If you have some other skills that you can trade, you can always check out the barter forum too. Just because you're a good programmer doesn't mean you have to be a whiz with graphics. You might try swapping some work with someone else.
Mit, check out the link above for "Web Templates" there are tons of free templates there that you can use. You'll want to write something to go along with it too.

You could try starting off using a free template such as those offered by JimWorld at http://www.jimworld.com/templates/
Playing around with the graphics and layout etc. is a good way to learn.
