can someone explain why my earnings in February are so shocking? My traffic numbers and click through rates have all stayed the same, my earnings on adsense this month have practically disappeared. I'm in the travel sector and a fellow travel website owner hasn't had the same happen to him. Is there something that i'm doing wrong? Is there anything I can do?

    To show my point...

    09 January 2006 2,558 258 10.1% USD37.41 USD95.70
    06 February 2006 2,509 256 10.2% USD8.51 USD21.35

And yesterday the figures are just unbelieveable

    08 February 2006 2,050 152 7.4% USD5.76 USD11.82

    Change any content lately?

The revenue is tied to the bid amount on Adwords. Higher bids on Adwords translate to higher payouts on Adsense (as I understand it, basically).

So, all things being equal, it would appear that "cheaper" ads are showing on your site and that's what folks are clicking on - thus the lower revenues.

I am by no means a definitive source of knowledge on the Adwords/Adsense relationship, though.

Hopefully some others here will chime in and either support my ideas or correct my misconceptions.

i doubt its bids alone, but could be. I would compare my traffic/logs/stats from each time frame. Is the same amount of traffic generating $95 as $11. I suspect not.

Very true - I should have expanded my thinking to include that...

There could have been a few advertisers whose ads were showing up on your site frequently and they opted out of contextual advertising.

Sometimes it's not your fault at all, especially because there are so many factors involved, like the bid prices, who is bidding, etc.

    thanks for the points raised.

Firstly content hasn't changed to any major degree. There is a small amount of text being added but its the same subject matter as the exisiting content.

Traffic, now this is the most confusing thing, as you can see the clicks are very similar (49 clicks difference).
Site traffic is also almost the same in Feb as it was in Jan.

A friend who also runs a travel website is having a 'best ever' month on adsense

As both a control freak and an SEO I want to fix this problem but there seems there is nothing I can do!
