"So, I think I have a scoop. I've discovered that Yahoo is very quietly testing their new contextual advertising program for blogs and other small publishers, a la Google Adsense.
Ken Rudman is a product manager at Yahoo-owned Overture, and his blog features contextual Overture ads throughout. His homepage shows the vertical two-ad format, monthly archives show a three-ad horizontal format, and individual entries show another variation of the horizontal format. The ads have decent relevancy, especially considering its early state."

Thanks for the info - i've been keeping my eye on this as well in anticipation. Seems like any official announcements are a bit premature still - but i'm hopeful that it is sure to come.
I'm interested to see in the future if tos/policies are impacted by having a/another 'competitor' in the marketplace. Is this more of a 'threat' to google's bottom line than microsoft's development of search is? i think it has big potential to shake bottom lines up a bit in the short term.
If you are making good money with adsense, why would you change? To make better money with Yahoo? Okay sure.

That's a great find! I'm looking forward to Overture competing with Google when it comes to contextual advertising.
By the way--MSN is also quietly testing their own PPC and contextual advertising program, as well. No word on when it's going to be rolled out, though.

One way that Yahoo and MSN could quickly gain market share from current Adsence publishers, would be to “not” follow G’s rule that competing contextual ad’s can be shown on the same page. For example if a publisher could display top paying ad’s from both Yahoo and MSN, that I think would be more attractive to most publishers.
