I've been using Google Adsense ads on my site for the past six weeks, and they were bringing in a modest daily income until eight days ago. Suddenly, my income has dropped to zero, every day for the past eight days. This doesn't make sense, because my site traffic has been increasing steadily. I'm beginning to conclude that someone is stealing my commissions with one of those bot programs that divert funds.

I've located some programs that "counter" the commission-theft bots, but I'm not familiar with them, so are there any that you folks could recommend? For that matter, has anyone else had this problem with Adsense?

    Many thanks,

If there is a program that could divert your funds, it would need to be installed on your computer.

I can't tell you why you are no longer receiving funds, but I can tell you that it is not possible for someone to steal your "clicks" and divert your profit. You should contact Google, there may be a problem on their end with your account.

Before you panic, try clicking on the ad to check if it registers. May be nobody is clicking the ad...

    Okay, folks, read closely:

    1. Since August 15, my Google ads were getting impressions, but no clicks.

    2. This morning (Aug 21), I ran AdAware on my PC and it found a Gator file of some sort. I deleted the file.

    3. A few minutes later, I checked my report at Google, and I had 2 impressions, 3 clicks and a sale!

If anyone can explain this to me, I'd be grateful.

    Thanks again,

    Roy

Are you running your site on your PC?

No, my site isn't on my PC, which is one of the curious things about this. For six days, I got dozens of impressions per day, but no clicks. As soon as I delete Gator from my PC, I get clicks and sales. Maybe there's no connection at all, but I'm still irked that Gator was downloaded in the first place.

In that case, I would say that is pure coincidence. There can be no connection between the two events.

Regarding Gators, if you've got AdAware now, then run Adwatch on your PC continuosly. That will keep most of the spyware off your machine.

I had a similar problem. Since putting on Adwords at the end of June commissions were doing fine, climbing all the time, and then for no particular reason, same approx number of impressions but no CT at all.

I emailed Google. Google emailed me back. Temporary glitch causing Reports function not to work properly, meanwhile your click thrus continue to be recorded.

    Did you try contacting google?

I haven't contacted Google, because I've been waiting to hear some other opinions first. Your experience sounds the same as mine - impressions, but no clicks.

Pure coincidence. Gator is downloaded in the background with many regular files. For example, download kazaa, full version, and you will also have gator.

There's no way gator (on your pc) can affect reporting from Google (on their servers).

It was a reporting glitch on Google's end.
