I'm sure that almost every web publisher has realized that google is running adwords advertisments thorughout various banner networks such as Fastclick.
Does anyone know how this works because I find it very interesting on how relevant the ads can be. I was trying to manipulate a few ads by changing page keywords and titles but this seemed not to have an effect.
Now that I am on the subject of contextual advertising, how does software such as gator operate. Are ads based on page text or the domain.

google is running adwords advertisments thorughout various banner networks such as Fastclick. Yes. In most cases it's being run at a fixed CPM rate as well. This might be more or less than one could make by applying to adsense directly.
I was trying to manipulate a few ads by changing page keywords and titles but this seemed not to have an effect. The effect might be delayed; part of AdSense's targeting is done through spidering of the sites that display the ads. Are you seeing ads that aren't very targeted to your content, or were you just trying to change the focus a bit?
Now that I am on the subject of contextual advertising, how does software such as gator operate. Are ads based on page text or the domain. I don't really have direct expirience there, but I'd bet "Yes - both".
