Wow, I forgot about this, still gotta test out your code.

I like programming too. Just wish I were a genius so that I could figure out things more quickly. My brain doesn't work fast enough for me.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to upgrade to the next brain chip? smile

To tell you the truth, Curt, it is not <i>always</i> the genius who gets the top slot. It is the most persevering who gets the top slot. It is 90 % perspiration and only 10 % inspiration.

Our brains are capable of far more computing power than the ones churned out by Intel and AMD. wink

Who coined that phrase "It is 90% perspiration and only 10% inspiration"? Can't remember.

It is Thomas A. Edison, I think.

Try using AJAX. It's a cleaner solution.

I don't know how to do an AJAX solution and don't really understand AJAX. For some reason the conceptual understanding of AJAX eluded me a bit when I did some research a while back so I gave up on learning it for the time being (but that would not be the first time I was corn-fused over something that is likely simple). I guess there is something about the way AJAX works that is not clear to me.

Dinkar, yes I did get it to work. I'd need to go back and examine what I did to make it work--it's been a while since I last program it.

We are using AJAX more and more for processing and it seems to be a solution to your problem too ... if your wired up for XHTML and are using PHP.

Basically, you just write (or include) a javascript in your header that calls (via the inherent server XMLHttpRequest() capability) a separate PHP page full of functions you want to perform. When somebody clicks something on your page -- inside your <div> or <span> objects you've defined ... voila ... the page reflects what you want to display instantly (*Asychronous) on the SERVER SIDE instead of sending it back to the browser (for a reload or a redirect or...etc.).
